Underwater Coloring Page
Thoughts On This Piece
This underwater coloring page was the first project in my children’s book illustration class. It was truly one of the most fun and freeing projects I had done in a long time because most of my projects focus more on basing stories off of reality and how real things interact with each other, and to be honest, that’s a lot of stress!
To be fun and cartoony was a great breath of fresh air and much needed because of being in a time of uncertainty and insecurity. Creativity is so limited with the standards you set yourself in your art, and having someone just tell you “Hey! Be a kid again and draw fun stuff!” is such a joy. I feel that every artist should take some time to enjoy a fraction of the creativity kids experience in their lives through their art. Life’s too short to worry about perfection. (Yeah, yeah. That advice is for me too.). Make a coloring page of your own! It’s much excitement to be had and the best thing is that it doesn’t have to make sense.
